Mrs. Maria

Hello two-year old families! My name is Maria Perez.  I am the two-year-old teacher here at La Palma Christian Preschool.  I have been working in the early education field for ten  years; 8 years working for ABC Unified School District as a para educator, one year in the Artesia Daycare, and  one year in Kindercare.  I currently have 54 units in Early Childhood Education, and I am continuing my studies. I thoroughly enjoy working with young children.  I believe two-year-olds are curious, excited, and eager to learn about the environment around them!  My goal as their teacher is to provide a clean, nurturing, routine learning environment. In our class, our year will begin with group work, which will allow us to become acquainted with one another.  We will be working out of two workbooks.  Child Art for Two-Year-Old Preschool will help develop color and shape recognition as well as eye-hand coordination and thinking-listening skills.  Learning Numbers with Button Bear is our second book, and it will help continue to develop skills such as counting, number recognition, thinking, reasoning, coloring, and matching.  The books will be sent home at the end of the year.  Another part of our curriculum is Bible time.  Each day will begin with a prayer over our day and families.  During the school year, we will attend chapel every Wednesday morning and learn more about our wonderful God. I also work on potty training with your child.  It is a weekly fee of ten dollars paid directly to me.  Payments can be made weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.  I will issue a receipt at the end of the month for your records.  This fee is to be paid until your child is completely potty trained.  Please bring a package of diapers or pull ups with Velcro sides and a package of wipes.  I will let you know when their supply is low.  I also ask that your child always have two sets of weather appropriate clothing, socks, and a pair of shoes.  Accidents and getting dirty are inevitable, it is best to always be prepared. For naptime, your child will need a sleeping bag inside of a pillowcase.  Please write their name on the sleeping bag and pillowcase.  Sleeping bags go home on Fridays to be washed and brought back on Mondays.  I have attached a copy of our class schedule for your convenience. If you have any questions, cares, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school.  I am here Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.  I am very open to any new ideas and would love your input.  Parent-Teacher communication helps create a successful classroom experience for your child’s best interest.  Let’s have a great school year! God Bless, Miss Maria
